A few checked facts worth knowing
- HO-2 Broad Form The dwelling and other structures are insured on a named-perils basis. The HO-3 and HO-5 insure them against direct physical loss (open perils). (ISO HO 00 02 10 00, Sec. I, Perils Insured Against)
- Guaranty Fund cap per covered claim $500,000 (not workers' compensation) (215 ILCS 5/537.2)
- Use of credit information Applies to personal insurance (private passenger auto, homeowners, motorcycle and mobile-home policies for personal, family or household use), not commercial insurance. An insurer using credit information may not deny, cancel or nonrenew a personal policy solely on that basis without considering another applicable underwriting factor. (215 ILCS 157/10; 215 ILCS 157/20(a)(2))
- Presumption of uninsured: forms not filed within 120 days of the crash (215 ILCS 5/143a(6))
